I’ll keep it simple- I like people. I’m fascinated by how people think, what different people see and how to make things that make daily life better.
I think that my educational, professional and life experiences have equipped me with a unique perspective on human behavior and storytelling. I’m currently getting my MFA in Design at CCA, although my academic journey began at UC Berkeley where I majored in English Literature and minored in Creative Writing.
My work is heavily influenced by my literary background and is often underpinned by literary associations and references, research, etymology, and word play. I’m interested in words, meanings, connotations and information transmission.
Before starting my MFA I worked as a Senior Director of Operations at a small renewable energy law firm. I helped develop the information architecture and established hiring and training strategies. I led research and editing workshops for attorneys and have experience with business strategy, planning and building a workplace culture with remote offices in various states.
I live in Oakland, California. In addition to being a full-time student, I’m in the process of launching my Substack “Double Vision,” a monthly newsletter of movie and cultural criticism authored jointly by me and my mom Jane. In my free time I like to cook, host reality-tv viewing sessions with friends, look at adoptable dogs, doodle and brainstorm tiny inventions.
